Urinary Tract Infection Causes and Symptoms
For the last few days, my daughter complained about her stomach pain. It will last only for about 5 to 15 minutes that’s why I and my husband were not worried. We thought that it is a common stomach pain due to stress or simply to get our attention. But last Friday, she gets up early and complaining about stomach ache and vomiting. I observed her for the next few hours, after feeding her, she vomits and complaining of stomach ace, so we decided her to bring to hospital. The doctor takes blood and urine sample for testing. After a few minutes, the doctor found out that there is a bacteria in her urine. The doctor told us that my daughter is suffering from urinary tract infection (UTI). He recommends us to give my daughter antibiotic twice a day for 7 days and abdominal pain medicine.
By the way, urinary tract disease (UTI) is a bacterial infection of the kidney and urinary tract. It should be treated early and effectively to avoid the repeated UTI and prevents kidney damage.
The following lists are some causes of UTI
- bubble bath
- improper wiping after using toilet, should wipe from front to read to prevent germs from spreading from rectum to the urethra
- constipation
- lack of fluid intake
- holding urine for a long time
- poor hygiene habit
Symptoms to watch out for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) for Children:
- painful urination or frequent urination
- abdomen pain
- nausea and vomiting
- loss of appetite
- not gaining weight
- loss of appetite
- urine with unusual smells and looks cloudy
- fever without cold ad cough
- irritability
After one day of taking antibiotic, my daughter looks well and okay. I make sure to give her a plenty of fluids in order to wash and flush out bacteria. It is also recommended to drink a cranberry juice because it builds the walls of the bladder slick so that bacteria have a harder time sticking to it.
