Causes of Stomach Pain in Children
Parents often worry for abdominal or stomach pain complaint by their children. It is hard to detect what is really the cause of this stomach pain. For the recurrent abdominal pain, it is necessary to be evaluated by physician. For the stomach pain lasted for three hours and not improving, it is better to call the physician.
I listed some of the possible causes of stomach pain or abdominal pain among children:
- Bowel problems. The pain may be due to constipation, or colic irritable bowel.
- Infections. It could be urinary tract infection, gastroenteritis (stomach flu) or other infection such as ear or chest infection.
- Food problems. Food allergies or too much eating and food poisoning are also associated with stomachache.
- Appendicitis. Other symptoms of appendicitis could be fever, loss of appetite and abdominal pain spreads to the right side of the abdomen.
- Menstrual pain. Some girls have pain before their periods start.
- Poisoning. Sometimes children have a habit of putting things in their amount so it could be chemicals that causes abdominal pain.
