Nutritional Guidelines
It is very hard to maintain our healthy meal most especially today because fast food chain is everywhere which usually offers junk food or super fatty foods. But of course, it is really up to you if you will follow the food pyramid or not.
Always think of the possible disease which will come your way if your eat junk foods and fatty foods and think how much would cost to maintain your health. Just need a little discipline and I’m sure little by little you will eventually change your lifestyle. I provide some list of nutritional guidelines for your reference.
- Eat a variety of food everyday. Choose a different kind of foods from all groups is the first step to obtain a well-balanced diet.
- Consume fish, lean meat, poultry or dried beans. This will provide good quality protein and dietary energy as well as iron and zinc.
- Eat more vegetables, fruits and root crops. It will supply the much needed vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber that are deficient to our diet. Also, it provides defense against chronic degenerative diseases.
- Consume milk, milk products or other calcium-rich foods such as small fish and dark green leafy vegetable everyday. It serves to supply not only calcium for healthy bones but to provide high quality protein and other nutrients for growth.
- Use iodized salt but avoid excessive intake of salty foods. The use of iodized salt prevents iodine deficiency which is the major cause of mental and physical underdevelopment.
- Eat clean and safe food. It is intended to prevent food-borne diseases.
- Exercise regularly, do not smoke and avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. If alcohol is consumed it must be done in moderation. This lifestyle practices are related to good nutrition.
