Tomato Health Benefits

Eating tomato has many health benefits to our body especially help to improve skin texture and color.  Tomato contains vitamin K, C and A, potassium and iron. It also help to lower blood pressure, aid in the development of healthy teeth, bones, skin and hair, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some cancer.

The red pigment in tomato contains lycopene which acts as antioxidant that reduce the effect of free radicals that can damage body cells. Lycopene also lowers the risk of developing cancer such as rectal colon or stomach cancer and make older person stay active.

Tomato has a compound which prevents the risk of developing lung cancer. These compounds are tomatoes-coumaric acid and chlorogenic acid which blocks the effects of nitrosamines.

Tomatoes can be included in your diet in different ways. Raw tomatoes can be chopped, sliced or grilled and added to salads, sandwiches and main dishes while processed tomatoes can be added to spaghetti sauce.  Tomato juice can also be a healthy beverage.
