Nilagang Pata (Boiled Pork Leg)

I used to cooked nilagang pata twice in one month most specially during weekend. My 3 years old daughter love to sip the soup of nilagang pata. The broth is very much tastier because of the leg part.

Nilagang pata is many variations, you can substitute pata with beef and vegetables used are varying depending to your creativity. It is very simple to cooked yet healthy recipe.

Nilagang Pata or Boiled Pork Leg

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo pork pata (front leg or pork hind), cut into serving pieces
1 large potato, cut into serving portion
8-10 piece baguio beans (can be substitute by stings beans)
1 large onion, cut into 4 pieces
2 pieces of corn, cut into 2
2 pieces saba banana (optional)
1 medium sized cabbage or half 2 bundle petchay
1 small taro roots (gabi), cut into serving portion (optional)
4-5 cup of water
Salt

Procedures:

1. In a pot, put the pork and water. Bring to boil.
2. Add onion, cover and wait until the pork is tender (approximately 1 hour).
3. Add corn and simmer.
4. When the corn is tender, add potato and gabi and then simmer.
5. Add baguio beans and simmer for about 1-2 minutes
5. Add salt according to your desired taste.
6. Add cabbage or petchay. (Make sure that the veggies are not overcooked)
7. Remove from heat serve hot.
