Nilagang Baka (Boiled Beef)

Just like nilagang pata (boiled pork leg) is easy to prepare because it just involves boiling of beef and vegetables. There are different versions of nilagang beef in terms of the vegetables used and procedures.

I often cooked nilagang baka during weekends. The broth is so tasty and nutritious. This recipe is simple yet contains complete nutrients from vegetables.

Nilagang Baka (Boiled Beef)

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo beef, cut into serving portion
1 big onion, cut into 4 pieces
1 big potatoes, cut into serving portion
1 medium size cabbage, cut into 4 pieces
2 bundles pechay, cut into 2 pieces
2 medium size corn, cut into 2 pieces
2 medium size saging saba (optional)
6-7 cups of water
Salt to taste

Procedures:

1. In a casserole, put beef and water, cover and bring to boil.
2. Add onion and potatoes when the beef is tender (approximately 1.5 hours)
3. Add corn, simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes.
4. Add saging na saba.
5. Add pechay and cabbage. Make sure that the veggies are not overcooked.
6. Put salt to taste.
7. Remove from heat and serve with steam rice.

* 4 to 6 servings
